1972 was an election year and real “Vote ’72” radio PSAs accompany a rare Firesign Theatre LP (made for radio distribution only) of a pre-election conversation concerning their “Not Insane” candidate, Papoon. Then more comedy from the Credibility Gap about Senator Kennedy’s Chappaquiddick crash, several station parody productions on radio history and future radio, and more DJs and music from ’72.

This unscheduled edition of OTE begins1971 with the Firesign Theatre’s ‘71 “Bozos” album which is played throughout, along with a statement by Eldridge Cleaver from Algeria on the Black Panther “bust” of Timothy Leary and his wife, Rosemary, who were hiding out in Algeria with the Panthers after Leary escaped prison in the U.S. Also black and white incompatibility as displayed in an extended remix of The Last Poets. We continue with more war in Vietnam, songs, news, and DJs of the day and changing stations all over 1971.
